This series is an extension of my documentary film Light Memories / Eco de Luz.
The project began when I confronted a striking absence: my grandfather, though a photographer like me, left no record of my grandmother’s life or my father’s childhood. He never recognized our family, distancing himself due to our Indigenous origins and lower social status.
The absence of a family album brought forth questions about the role of photography in shaping family memory and how such a visual void alters our perception of the past.
In response, I set out to recreate these missing images using my grandfather’s camera, compelling him—through these photographs—to see the family he left unseen.
